Intro to Character Design/2

This course will introduce you to the basics of creating characters, and drawing digitally. It is highly recommended that students with minimal digital drawing and design experience start with this course. This course is a prerequisite for our more advanced courses including Character Design 1, 2D Animation, Creature Design and Figure Drawing.

A character designer creates the look and feel of characters for video games, film, animation and illustration. Strong drawing skills and fundamentals are required to create any type of realistic or stylised characters. At CDW Studios there are many workshops that use the principles taught in character design. Topics will include perspective, anatomy, drawing construction, drawing simple forms in 3D space, colour, design principles, storytelling and drawing in Photoshop.

This course is aimed at beginners and will give you the perfect foundation for your art career.
